The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) collects information from first-year and senior students about the quality of their undergraduate experience, including student engagement in educational practices associated with high levels of learning and development. NSSE was developed and is administered by the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research.
Overall, LSU students' responses to NSSE indicate engagement and experience that is similar to our comparison peers. LSU administers NSSE approximately every two years - 2007, 2009 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2022. The next administration will occur in Spring 2025. Contact OIE for more information on the results.
Frequently Asked Questions
The NSSE (National Survey of Student Engagement) is a national survey that collects feedback from first-year and senior students about their experiences in academics, campus life, and learning. It helps universities improve student engagement and success.
Unlike satisfaction-focused surveys, NSSE emphasizes behaviors and experiences that contribute to learning and development, offering deeper insights into student engagement.
The survey provides actionable data to improve student engagement, support strategic planning, enhance academic programs, and fulfill accreditation requirements.
The survey is open to first-year and senior students because their feedback captures key moments in the undergraduate experience: the beginning and near the end of their college journey.
You’ll receive a personalized email from NSSE.org with a unique survey link sent to your LSU email account. Additionally, eligible students can scan the QR code on official NSSE marketing materials to complete a one-step verification to recieve their survey link.
