LSU Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education’s Jennifer Qian Named to Prestigious Global Data Policy Committee

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State University proudly announces that Jennifer Qian, EdD, Associate Professor of Learning Analytics and Educational Technology, and program lead of the Master's and Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology at the LSU Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education (SOE), was selected as a distinguished member of the International Data Policy Committee (IDPC) within the International Science Council's Committee on Data (CODATA).

“I am deeply honored and excited to be chosen as a member of the CODATA IDPC of the International Science Council,” said Qian. "The mission of IDPC is to advance responsible and effective data governance through data policy on a global scale. As we embark on this journey, I look forward to sharing my expertise in technology implementation across higher education and to collaborating with international experts, bridging academia and policy, and contributing to the development of frameworks that uphold the values of open science and ethical data principles and practices.”

As a member of the CODATA IDPC, Qian will participate in shaping global data governance standards, influencing policy decisions, and fostering international collaboration. Her dedication to open scholarship, open science, and ethical principles aligns seamlessly with the committee's mission, emphasizing the responsible and ethical use of data and AI for societal benefit. 

Qian joined LSU's faculty in 2018, assuming leadership of the Educational Technology program within the SOE. Qian has an extensive career in higher education spanning various institutions, including Dartmouth College and Northeastern University. Qian's research focuses on technology-enabled academic innovation, digital transformation, technology leadership, and emerging technologies, particularly in the synergy of AI, learning analytics, and digital adaptive learning. She also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Innovative Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
